Affordable Unattended Cremation  £995

Our Direct Cremation provides you with a dignified, respectful and simple cremation for your loved one in the Somerset and Bristol area. The unattended cremation will take place locally at either Sedgemoor or Weston super Mare Crematorium,  by Lindsay, the funeral director and her bearers and staff at C V Gower Funeral Directors based in Winscombe.

There is no attendance by mourners, or service or ceremony beforehand. It is also known as a basic cremation, simple cremation, cremation without a ceremony or "Pure" Cremation.

The fee for our Direct Cremation is £995. The cost includes a simple environmentally friendly coffin suitable for cremation. The current fee of £82 for the Doctor to complete the necessary cremation form will be additional, if required. This is because if there is an investigation by HM Coroner, these fees don't apply.

Arrangements may be made over the telephone or you can visit our office in Winscombe, North Somerset. Just off the A38.

With over 28 years of experience, our staff are available to assist families 24/7, 365 days of the year. Call us for more information.

Direct Cremations - Your Questions Answered

Can I attend the direct cremation?

Unfortunately, with a direct cremation, the crematoriums do not allow mourners to attend, this allows them to supply the service at a cheaper rate.

Can the ashes be returned to the family?

Yes, ashes can be returned to the family.

Can I hold a service for my loved one?

Whilst a direct cremation doesn't provide for a service at the crematorium, there is no reason why you can't celebrate your loved one's life. This may be as a formal service in a Church or Chapel, or as a less formal service in a garden, village hall or pub.
