Affordable Low Cost Cremation - £950

Our Direct Cremation provides you with a dignified, respectful and simple cremation for your loved one at Sedgemoor Crematorium for your loved ones who pass away in Somerset, North Somerset and Bristol area.

There is no attendance by mourners, or service or ceremony beforehand. It is also known as a basic cremation, simple cremation, cremation without a ceremony or Pure Cremation.

The fee for our Direct Cremation is £950. The current fee of £82 for the Doctor to complete the necessary cremation form will be additional, if required. This is because if there is an investigation by HM Coroner, these fees don't apply. The cost also includes a simple environmentally friendly coffin for cremation.

Arrangements are made over the telephone, where all the required paperwork will be sent to you via email or by post for you to complete, with our help. Or you can visit our office in Winscombe, North Somerset. Just off the A38.

With over 25 years of experience, our staff are available to assist families 24/7, 365 days of the year. Call us for more information.

What Does Our Simple Cremation Service Include?

Collection of the deceased

We will collect the deceased from any hospital or public mortuary across England and Wales. If the deceased died at home, we may have to engage the service of a local Funeral Director to look after your loved one until the Doctor has completed the Medical Cause of Death Certificate and the necessary cremation paperwork. If we need to engage another Funeral Director, their fee will be an additional £250 to our charge.

Direct cremation with no mourners

At the crematorium, there is no service beforehand, just a simple cremation. The cremation will take place within 21 days of the date of death. If you wish to be notified of the date of the Cremation, please let us know. Please note, Serenity Direct Cremations is responsible for selecting the time, date and location of the cremation.

We use a simple solid pine eco coffin. This style of coffin actively assists with the cremation process as it is unvarnished and free from any unnecessary chemicals. Coffins over 6ft by 22 inch will incur an additional charge of £195.

Scattering of cremated remains

Your loved ones cremated remains will be scattered in the Garden of Rest at the Crematorium. If you would prefer to have the remains returned to yourself in a biodegradable box, this can be requested, an additional charge of £75 will apply for us to hand deliver the cremated remains to you, within 28 days of the cremation. We also have a selection of alternative caskets and urns available for you to purchase, should you wish to have the ashes interred in a plot or scattered in the sea.

Care of the deceased

The deceased will be cared for by our professional staff in our fully equipped mortuary facilities until the day of the cremation.

We ask for our invoice to be paid in full prior to the Cremation. Payment can be made by cheque, BACs transfer or debit/credit card. If you are claiming for assistance from the DWP, please let us know as soon as possible.

Customer Reviews

In keeping with my loved ones’ wishes I was looking for a simple cremation service. From making an initial enquiry to receiving the ashes I was treated with utmost courtesy and kindness at a very difficult time. I would highly recommend this company as you will receive a professional service from people who are quick to return calls, explain the process and are extremely professional.

Direct Cremations - Your Questions Answered

Can I attend the direct cremation?

Unfortunately, with a direct cremation, the crematoriums do not allow mourners to attend, this allows them to supply the service at a cheaper rate.

Can the ashes be returned to the family?

Yes, ashes can be returned to the family by a member of our team, within 21 days of the cremation. There is an additional charge for this of £25.00 (within a 30 mile radius).

Can I hold a service for my loved one?

Whilst a direct cremation doesn't provide for a service at the crematorium, there is no reason why you can't celebrate your loved one's life. This may be as a formal service in a Church or Chapel, or as a less formal service in a garden, village hall or pub.
